Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Update

SEH has been working with staff, members of our community, and the planning commission to update the comprehensive plan and zoning update over the last several months.  They would like to provide the Council with an update as to their progress and let them know where they are at in the process.

Police Chief Search Process

Mercer Group is seeking input from a variety of stakeholders from the city when completing the police chief search to ensure that the city gets the best candidate for the position.  They are wanting to take this opportunity to discuss the City Council's desired qualities of candidates which will assist them when reviewing candidates for this position.  Lisa Ward from Mercer Group will be joining us via Zoom to discuss this further with the City Council.   Enclosed is a copy of the discussion questions they would like to review with the City Council.  Also included is the work plan for the hiring process that Ms. Ward will review with the City Council at the meeting as well.

Mining Ordinance

Staff has been working on the Mining Ordinance and seeking input from a variety of stakeholders.  They would like to continue this discussion with the City Council.  A revised draft has been sent to all council members for review.  Once a final draft is completed, staff will hold a public hearing and then it will go back to the Planning Commission and Council in February for consideration.

Public Safety Facility Tour Review

Staff has been doing some research on cities that have recently completed public safety facilities that would be good places to tour.  Staff would like to discuss these sites with the city council and determine places the city should consider visiting to assist us in the process of determining features that should be included in our new public safety facility.
