CATGUARD PROGRAM
The Waite Park Police Department has received a supply of CATGUARD labels to be placed on catalytic converters. The CATGUARD label is like a serial number for your catalytic converter. The label is placed on a catalytic converter and a fluid is painted over the label. Once the vehicle is started the number will etch into the metal. The label must be placed on a cool to the touch catalytic converter. If it is hot it will not work.
When you pick up your label, we will register your unique code along with your contact information. In the event that your "cat" is stolen you should report your unique code to the police.
The labels were provided by the MN Commerce Dept. Since the labels were purchased through a grant, we are currently distributing labels to the top 15 vehicles, that "cats" are stolen off of.

HOW TO OBTAIN A LABEL
If you would like a label and are a WAITE PARK RESIDENT and own one of the top 15 vehicles, stop in at the Waite Park Police Dept between 8:00 am - 4:30 pm to pick up a label.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
You will need to have your vehicle VIN number and license plate number with you. A photo of your license plate and your VIN (which can be found on your insurance card or on your vehicle) works just fine. The VIN and license plate number are needed for the registration process.
